Jessica buys…
February 26th, 2009Jessica came to NYC in January for her seasonal shopping for Jessica’s Traveling Boutique… I went around the city with her to see first-hand what it takes for her to prepare for her trunk shows. It’s fun shopping but this one woman show is haaard work! It was a freezing, snowy winter day so we trekked around with hats, earmuffs, scarves and gloves galore beginning at 10am until 8pm. This girl means business!
The first place we went to was for jewelry. I thought our eyes were going to cross because of the thousands of styles to choose from! It was so exciting to be there for the first time that I wanted to buy everything in sight. But then I quickly realized that buying for a “business” is different than shopping for myself. Who knew?! You can incorporate your personal style but you also have to keep in mind the target customer for Jessica’s Traveling Boutique… Jessica also reminded me that Hawaii’s weather is much warmer than NYC so the “want it” styles and colors may vary a little. After a couple of hours of product selection, we bought a nice variety of gold, silver, gemstone earrings, necklaces and rings.
Jewelry Fashion Tip: You’ll see more of it in the Spring but the trend right now is heading towards BIGGER and BOLDER, whether it’s earrings, necklaces or rings!
Next stop shopping was for clothes. We went to door to door to the wholesale boutiques only to find a few styles to our liking while keeping the pricepoint in mind. A lot of the clothes were heavier fabrics since it’s winter in the city right now… but luckily, we found several great styles that Jess was able to take back.
At the end of the day, doing what you love to do = shopping makes it fun and worth it! Jess, I’ll go shopping with you again anytime!
*Remember ladies, Jessica doesn’t buy in bulk so it’s first come first serve since the quantities are limited—we were buying one or two of each style / size only! Of course, if you loooove something she has that’s been already sold, you can always make special requests so she can pick it up for you on her next buy trip.*
